After that I rushed to catch Jammi luv where we sat and talked over starbucks about politics, the conspiracy of consumerism, capitalism, lots and lots of trivia and what not..she's such a lovely girl and smart at that! Queen of trivia indeed. She told me that in a year, an average of 6 people in America die from vending machines. U heard me right. Apparently these people just get so frustrated that their dollar was being wasted, so they'd start banging and stuff..so hard that eventually the machine tips over u and u somewhat die instantaneously. Damn. Talk about anger management huh..man that was so weird. Anyhows we walked over to the Durians where the smells of the river greeted us as we strolled and listened to the sound check of some funky group playing medleys from Rocky, Bon Jovi and stuff..nice!Totally loved it.
However, the day hadn't even started - after some pasta, me and my babe (clad in his Iron Maiden tee) headed to homeclub to catch this:

It was a tribute to Robert Nesta Marley, aka Bob Marley upon 25 years of his passing..they showed a short documentary on him..too bad i couldn't really catch every single word of it cos it was pretty noisy in the club. The video doc was nice-got to see Bob's Trenchtown, the slumps where he lived in Kingston Jamaica..and how he was being seen as many as a messenger of his faith, even a prophet, for he managed to speak and spread views so strongly. Then there was all the political upheaval happening that weaved into his career as well, and his unfortunate inevitable death of cancer. It was all good tho, we settled ourselves into a cosy sofa right at the back of the club..fun stuff. Soon after, Cesspit and Bushmen started playing!!Cesspit played lotsa their own ska originals...but man, Bushmen was simply ama-fuckin-zing. They threw up fantastic tunes from Marley...my current favourites, actually, and I was singing and swaying along to the songs..they are damn good, i tell ya.Its like listening to the song right down to the bone..Man!! SO they belted out stuff like Redemption Song, Kaya, Jammin, and my fav, Soul Rebel. I was soooo high!!!! Then the skinheads started coming in so I decided to pack up and leave...but hell, the gig was worth every penny man! I got my reggae fix, good to last me for some time now!
Don't you just love love love great weekends?
Oh ya, Happy Mommie's Day!!! :D
