Tomorrow I'll be leaving for a work trip in Vientiane, Laos. Its pretty last minute, but I'm pretty nervous/excited at the same time. Got started with the packing, but I'm too lazy to start ironing the mountain of clothes, so here I am blogging :)
Anyway, this will be my first time visiting Laos, and its pretty cool. I'll be staying in a 14-storey hotel which apparently, is the highest building in Laos (they have a law which says that a building can't go beyond 7 storeys or something. How amazing is that!)

Its been a while since my last work trip, so am looking forward to learning new things and meeting new people. However, I won't be able to attend the SMU Econs talk, so that's shelved for the moment. Hopefully I'll be able to help out at another occasion.
Usually before I take off to a new place I try to learn some phrases for conversational purposes..however I only know that Sabaidee means Good Morning, or that its the common Laos greeting. What's interesting is that as a French colony, the Laotian people can speak French, and that baguettes are easily available. Am looking to practise a bit of French there, and possibly get a taste of the old French colonial elements in Laos. If I'm lucky I get to visit the temple, or get a massage cheap cheap!
So exciting! Pray for me that it'll be a safe trip..see u guys when I get back.
Ciao!
